Rwanda Rushashi - BURIMBA HILL

Description

This specialty, single origin coffee from Rwanda is naturally processed. Sourced with care and roasted to highlight the bean’s natural sweetness, it’s a beautiful expression of its high-altitude origin and the skill of the farmers behind it.

Floral notes, creamy feels.

Expect a sweet, balanced cup with a creamy textured body, delicate hints of bergamot and rosehip, and a gentle black tea leaf finish. It’s elegant, smooth, and quietly complex.

From Crop to Cup

High in the hills of northern Rwanda, above the village of Rutabo, you’ll find Burimba Hill — and at its heart, a remarkable community of 300 women who grow something truly special. These are the ladies of Hingakawa, and they didn’t just produce this coffee — they named it too. That sense of pride and ownership runs deep in every bean they harvest.

Part of the respected Abakundakawa Cooperative, this coffee is naturally processed — a rare microlot that showcases the richness of its red bourbon varietal. Shade-grown and sun-dried, the beans are given time to mature slowly, developing a sweetness and complexity that’s hard to find and even harder to forget.

This is more than just great coffee — it’s the result of collaboration, care, and shared values. We’re proud to bring it to you through our partnership with This Side Up, who work hand-in-hand with farmers and cooperatives to improve quality at the source and help secure a better future for their communities.

A rare find — and one we’re honoured to share.

How we like to Brew It

We love it best as a filter — smooth, balanced, and packed with nuance. But it’s just as happy pulling bold espresso shots or pairing with your favourite milk-based drinks. However you brew, it won’t disappoint.
