From east to west and north to south coffee is a vital part of every culture. In some cultures, coffee has been around for over 300 years. Northern Europeans have been drinking fairly large quantities of coffee. In the Middle East, coffee is a part of family traditions and mostly linked to national identity. Every culture and country have their own way of drinking coffee. Today we are taking you to Vietnam.
Vietnam is the second largest coffee producing country in the world. In Vietnam coffee is a way of life, a distinct and essential part of local culture. Vietnamese coffee is a combination of fresh slow brewed coffee, condensed milk, hot water and ice, especially due to the hot weather condition in many months of the year.
This flavoursome and intense coffee is obtained through a small stainless steel brewer called a Phin, which typically produces 300 ml of coffee. No paper filter, no heavy machine setups or complex cleaning is needed. It is as simple as it sounds. A unique drip is achieved when you brew coffee in a Phin filter gadget. It is less concentrated than espresso and slightly more intense than your usual filter coffee. These Phins come in different sizes but they fit on top of a cup or mug.
Jones Brothers Coffee’s tip: The parts of filter get hot due to the hot water. Thus be cautious while handling it.
The method of brewing coffee with a Phin takes about 4-5 mins. Enjoy one of the finest coffee pleasures available in the world. Vietnamese way of brewing coffee is best for those who don’t own a coffee machine or that brew one cup of coffee at a time.
There you have everything that you need to know about Vietnamese coffee. Stay tuned we might take you to turkey in our next blog post.
