The Origin of our Specialty Decaf Coffee

We source our decaf from the best of the best - the beautiful Colombian Popayán region of Cauca. At an altitude of 1700m, this decaf is of the Caturra and Castillo variety. Known for its decaf coffee, we are proud to say that our specialty decaf comes from one of the world’s premier coffee growing regions committed to providing quality every time.

Popayán farmers carefully select the beans and use a natural decaffeination process, the sugarcane process, developed in the Popayán region itself.

With hints of chocolate and vanilla, we have ensured that our decaf brings you an intensely flavourful cup of coffee that not only brings you the coffee happiness you need but also zero caffeine.

We hope you will enjoy it as much as us coffee lovers at Jones Brothers Coffee do!!

The Science behind our Decaf coffee

Our speciality decaf coffee is created using the best methods to ensure coffee happiness is brought to you in every cup. This is why we use a natural and local process - the sugarcane process.

The sugarcane process is a natural decaffeination process which involves fermenting sugarcane to create a substance called ethanol, which is then mixed with acetic acid to create ethyl acetate.

Our Colombian farmers first use water to open up the pores of the coffee beans. The beans are then washed for eight hours with ethyl acetate (naturally occurring) which decaffeinates the beans. After this, the beans are steamed again to remove any ethyl acetate that may be left on the beans. Any slight residue of ethyl acetate then gets removed in the last stage when the beans are roasted.

Did you notice your beans a bit more oily or “sweaty” than normal? Don’t worry! While roasting, oil and fat are more prone to be released because of the open pores of the beans. It is perfectly natural and does not affect the taste of your coffee.

So, why the sugarcane process? Well, it's natural, it's local, and it ensures that you get a full bodied, lovely cup of coffee that tastes exactly like coffee without the caffeine.

Your new secret weapon…

These are the top 3 reasons why you should SERIOUSLY consider drinking our decaf:

NO Jitters!: We’re all sensitive to caffeine in our own special ways, but for some, just one cup of coffee can cause jitters. Decaf lets you savor the rich flavors of coffee that you love without the unwanted side effects.

You can sleep well AND keep your coffee ritual: Imagine getting cozy in bed with a warm cup of coffee. Except, this coffee doesn’t keep you tossing and turning all night. How? Well, because it’s decaf! Decaf allows you to enjoy the taste and aroma of coffee with the reduced risk of staying up all night.

The Same Great Coffee Taste—Minus the Caffeine: Our decaf coffee retains its rich, full-bodied flavor thanks to the natural sugarcane process that we use. We have ensured that it matches the flavour standards and quality of the rest of our specialty coffee range. So, you don’t have to compromise on taste when choosing this caffeine-free option!

So whether you’re looking for a way to cut back on caffeine or enjoy coffee at any hour, our specialty decaf coffee is a great option to explore!
